Halifax Pop Explosion Association Job Posting

Am I eligible for participation in Job Creation Partnerships (JCP)?
To be eligible for participation in Job Creation Partnerships (JCP), you must be an unemployed individual (“insured participant”) as defined by Section 58 of the Employment Insurance Act . This means that you are an individual for whom: a) an unemployment benefit period has been established or has ended within the 36 months (3 years) prior to the date of requesting assistance; or

b) a benefit period that included a maternity or parental claim has been established within the 60 months (5 years) prior to the date of requesting assistance, after which you remained out of the labour market in order to care for a newborn or newly adopted child and are now seeking to re-enter the labour force.

Other criteria may apply.

Production Coordinator

Title: Production Coordinator

Reports to:   Executive Director, Event Chair
Start date: April 19, 2010
Duration: 9 months – 37.5 hours weekly, with some evenings and weekends (time off in lieu of overtime worked) 9AM – 5PM
Industry Standard Pay:  $447 per week

The Production Coordinator (EC) will provide support for the conference share of the Halifax Pop Explosion.  Under the supervision and direction of the Executive Director, the PC will work independently, and will liaise with the Executive Director, event Chair, committee members and stakeholders to deliver the project.  This person’s main focus will be the delivery of high quality educational programming, registration and artist relations.

Primary duties:

  • Assist in the coordination of seminars, workshops and all other educational programming
  • Contribute to the preparation of promotional materials, such as copy for program guide
  • Participate in registration campaigns and implementation
  • Maintain accurate registration, contact and transportation databases
  • Monitor on-line registration
  • Prepare registration reports as requested
  • Update website with conference related information
  • Coordinate and prepare daily itineraries for special guests
  • Prepare registration packages for participants, especially special guests
  • Set-up and operate the registration desk on site
  • Deliver payments to special guests
  • Conduct and data enter evaluations from conference participants

Additional duties:

  • Participate in all project committee meetings
  • Adhere to the project’s critical path and update it weekly
  • As requested, attend project activities and respond to any conference inquiries on site during the events
  • Provide assistance in the distribution of Halifax Pop Explosion promotional materials prior to and on site
  • Assist in the project’s final report
  • Instruct volunteers for any conference related activities
  • Attend all professional development educational workshops the Halifax Pop Explosion takes part in during employment period.

Activity schedule

During these months there will be various committee and staff meetings to which the PA is expected to attend.
