Halifax Pop Explosion is excited to announce our first round of buzz worthy headliners for our 20th anniversary festival taking place October 16-20, 2012. Keeping with our tradition of presenting cutting edge artists we are extra excited for this list of artists who were hand picked by our staff over the past months of searching and planning.

“This is the best lineup we’ve ever had  in our history” says Executive Director Jonny Stevens who encourages people to explore new music and discover something they may not have otherwise heard of before. “I mean, Arcade Fire won a grammy and people were still asking who they were so I’m shocked that anyone actually showed up to see them play at HPX 2004″.

Passes go on sale in June as we want to let this buzz worthy list of bands sink in fully before we let you to buy a wristband. Halifax Pop Explosion now accepting early bird submissions for 2012 festival 

Halifax Pop Explosion (HPX) is now accepting early bird submissions for our 20th Anniversary festival which takes place October 16-20, 2012. Artists wishing to perform can apply HERE. Early Bird submissions are $10.00 until February 03, 2012. Regular submissions are $15.00 from February 4th – May 21, 2012; which is the application deadline.

Highlighted by unforgettable performances from acts such as Thee Oh Sees, Stars, Dan Mangan, The Thermals, and Chad VanGaalen, the 2011 Halifax Pop Explosion was the festival’s most successful and acclaimed year to date. Showcasing over 180 bands at 20 venues in front of more than 20,000+ fans and industry delegates, it was the perfect lead up to HPX’s 20th anniversary in 2012. For a video re-cap of 2011, click HERE.
