Here is your chance to get your song heard by music industry professionals. Sign up in advance, send your demo into us online, or at the demo session. Tracks will be randomly selected and played, and then panelists will critique all songs in front of the group. Join Jonny Stevens (Music Nova Scotia), Paul Gagnon (MuchFACT), Chris Budd (indiemusicfilter.com) and Steven Himmelfarb (Billions Corporation).
Note: Demo evaluation registration will take place at the Halifax Pop Explosion registration desk, and will close at 12:30pm SHARP (a half-hour before the session) on October 23. Please submit songs via SonicBids and/or CD and include four copies of the lyrics. Due to time constraints, some songs may not be reviewed.
3pm Youth Involvement Workshop

Understanding how to become involved and further one’s development in the music industry does not happen overnight, but is in fact an ongoing learning experience. The focus of this workshop is to provide general insight into taking the right steps to opening up opportunity. It will follow an open format, allowing for a more hands-on feel and time for a Q&A period with Eric Warner (We Are Busy Bodies) and Jon Asher (Asher Media Relations).

Canadian bands’ bread and butter is touring overseas. Learn tips and tricks for how to tour outside of Canada, when to be strategic and how to spend money properly. This workshop will discuss the ins and outs of breaking an artist into new international markets, and the problems and opportunities faced by doing this from Canada. This is an open discussion format to try and help you get the ball rolling (outside of the Great White North). Join Steven Himmelfarb (Billions Corporation) as he shares his experiences booking massive Canadian acts such as Final Fantasy and Tokyo Police Club not just in Canada but throughout the world.
